Collection by TikTok (CBT) can lower delivery costs while you keep stock in your own warehouse. The saving depends on the packed parcel, destination mix and what your warehouse charges to handle CBT orders. There is also a deadline to check: US registration will be unavailable from November 7, 2026, to January 5, 2027. Before switching, compare complete costs without assuming that the advertised shipping rate or promotional rebate applies to every order.
The short version
- Check enrollment timing before assigning holiday orders to a new shipping service.
- Compare label prices together with packing, handling and any applicable protection charge.
- Keep the promotional discount out of your base forecast until eligibility is confirmed.
What Collection by TikTok changes
CBT is a TikTok Shipping option that collects prepared customer parcels from eligible seller warehouses. You still hold the stock and prepare orders. TikTok's logistics overview distinguishes it from Fulfilled by TikTok, where TikTok's fulfillment centers store, pack and ship inventory.
That distinction changes the comparison. A CBT label can be cheaper than another label while leaving your storage rent and pick-and-pack bill intact. An FBT quote covers a different set of work. Compare the services included in each option before choosing the smaller number; our US FBT fee guide covers that separate inventory decision.
The November 7 registration pause is not an activation promise
The US CBT sign-up guide says the registration tool will be offline from November 7, 2026, to January 5, 2027. It describes a 5–7-business-day review, with immediate activation in certain supported areas of Georgia, Illinois, Florida and Texas. Reviewed accounts are enabled on Tuesdays after approval.
For a seller checking this on November 2, submitting before November 7 does not establish that pickup will be active for the first holiday orders. Confirm the review status and collection date before moving volume. The announced pause concerns registration; it should not be read as a shutdown of existing CBT deliveries.
- In Seller Center, open Logistics > Warehouse & Shipping > Shipping Settings and check which warehouse can register.
- Verify the warehouse address, contact person and working phone number before confirming the upgrade.
- Have warehouse staff answer the carrier's preparation call and confirm the first collection.
- Keep a workable shipping plan for orders placed before the account shows CBT as active.
Use the warehouse's actual eligibility and parcel quote
The CBT overview advertises rates starting at $2.99 and limits pickup coverage by ZIP code. That starting rate is not a quote for your product. Check the official Shipping Calculator using the packed weight, dimensions, origin, destination and order type.
Ask your warehouse for a written breakdown of any CBT sorting, carrier setup or handover charge. Weigh the sealed parcel, including packaging, rather than copying the bare product weight. Save the quote and its date so an adjusted shipping bill can be checked against the original inputs.
TikTok's peak-season rate notice says CBT rates remain unchanged during the October 5, 2026–January 17, 2027 Standard Delivery adjustment period. That does not remove warehouse charges or guarantee the same rate for every parcel. For the separate Standard Delivery changes, see our US peak-season shipping guide.
The $0.50 rebate now has a separate 500-package threshold
The current CBT promotion rules, updated October 28, specify a first-time application threshold of at least 500 average daily packages over the preceding 15 days from November 1, 2026, Pacific Time. That application measure includes CBT, TikTok Shipping and Seller Shipping packages at shop or certified shop-group level.
The same document gives an automatic qualification route for shops or shop groups averaging at least 500 daily CBT packages. The $0.50 reduction applies to eligible CBT packages in Zones 1–4, is settled at final package status, and is subject to recurring volume reviews. The published promotion ends December 31, 2026. Service enrollment and promotion eligibility are separate checks; qualifying for pickup does not establish entitlement to this discount.
Older summaries still mention 200 daily packages. Use the current promotion document and your account's confirmed status before counting the rebate. A warehouse's service-volume requirement is also a different test from this promotional threshold.
A lower label price can save $0.75 rather than $1.15
Consider an illustrative batch of 1,000 US customer orders, each containing one item in one parcel. These are invented planning inputs, not TikTok rate-card quotes or a seller case study. Keep the product and destination mix identical across the two options. Assume no buyer-paid shipping income, platform subsidy, separate program fee or promotion discount.
| Cost | Current service | CBT scenario |
|---|---|---|
| Average label price | $6.40 | $5.25 |
| Existing pick-and-pack cost, including packaging | $1.60 | $1.60 |
| Additional CBT sorting and handover | $0.00 | $0.40 |
| Complete outbound cost | $8.00 | $7.25 |
| Saving per parcel | — | $0.75 |
The label difference is $1.15. The extra $0.40 handling charge leaves $0.75, or $750 across 1,000 parcels. If additional handling rose to $1.15 per parcel, it would consume the entire label saving. Free pickup does not make the warehouse's time free.
Now assume a $40 selling price, $12 product cost, 15% creator commission, $6 advertising cost per acquired order and a $1 expected net return-loss allowance per order. Use a 6% referral fee as a modeling assumption consistent with the published US referral policy; check your category and account rate. Both percentage fees are calculated on the $40 price here, with no discounts or sales tax included in revenue.
| Per customer order | Current service | CBT scenario |
|---|---|---|
| Selling price | $40.00 | $40.00 |
| Product cost | $12.00 | $12.00 |
| Referral fee at assumed 6% | $2.40 | $2.40 |
| Creator commission at chosen 15% | $6.00 | $6.00 |
| Advertising | $6.00 | $6.00 |
| Expected net return-loss allowance | $1.00 | $1.00 |
| Complete outbound cost | $8.00 | $7.25 |
| Contribution per order | $4.60 | $5.35 |
| Contribution across 1,000 orders | $4,600 | $5,350 |
The shipping change improves contribution by $750 under these assumptions. If switching also requires a one-time $150 setup payment, the first batch's improvement falls to $600. At $0.75 saved per parcel, 200 parcels recover that setup payment; later parcels provide the ongoing saving. Keep that one-time bill separate from the recurring $0.40 handling charge.
Apply a rebate to eligible parcels, not the whole batch
For a separate scenario, suppose a business has already confirmed promotion eligibility and 600 of a representative 1,000-parcel batch qualify for the $0.50 discount. The other 400 do not. The batch size itself says nothing about whether the business meets the daily-volume test.
The discount is 600 × $0.50 = $300, or $0.30 averaged across all 1,000 parcels. If the rest of the earlier assumptions hold, average outbound cost falls from $7.25 to $6.95 and contribution rises from $5.35 to $5.65 per order. Applying $0.50 to all 1,000 would overstate savings by $200. Do not subtract this discount again if your quote or reconciled charge already includes it.
Check protection charges and warehouse handover
The Shipping Protection Program describes a 1% fee for subscribed packages valued above $100, with the fee waived at or below $100. Its value definition includes the shopper-paid product amount plus platform subsidy. For a qualifying subscribed package valued at $150, that is $1.50, not 1% of only the $50 above the threshold. Check your subscription and applicable terms; the $40 single-item example above carries no such fee.
The CBT warehouse SOP requires official CBT labels, separate CBT parcels and handover to the designated CBT carrier. A cheap label cannot compensate for parcels sent through the wrong handover process. Ask the warehouse to confirm who prints labels, separates the parcels and records collection before the first pickup.
Test the saving in Marqflow, then reconcile the first batch
In the US profit calculator, enter the example's $40 price, $12 product cost, 15% creator commission, assumed 6% referral fee and $6 advertising cost. Set Fulfillment cost to $8 for the current service and $7.25 for the CBT comparison. Put the $1 expected net return-loss allowance in Other cost per order; do not add a return-rate model for the same losses.
Marqflow tests the cost inputs you enter. It does not fetch live CBT quotes, confirm warehouse eligibility or apply a promotional rebate automatically. Keep the $150 setup payment as a separate batch-level deduction. The forecast should show the recurring saving clearly before you decide whether the switch pays back.
- Compare quotes for your actual parcel and destination mix, keeping service and order assumptions consistent.
- Save enrollment approval, promotion confirmation and the warehouse's added-charge agreement separately.
- Match the first completed batch to shipping charges, any later adjustments and discounts actually received.
- Replace estimated costs with actuals; use the settlement-to-profit guide if money paid outside TikTok is missing from your comparison.
Our settlement report walkthrough explains how to connect platform deductions with costs paid outside the platform. The decision is ready when both the warehouse can run the service and the complete cost comparison still leaves a saving.
Questions sellers ask
Is Collection by TikTok free?
Eligible pickup is free, but delivery labels and warehouse preparation still have costs. In our illustrative example, a $5.25 label plus $1.60 pick-and-pack and $0.40 added handling costs $7.25 per parcel.
Can I register for CBT during the 2026 holiday peak?
The US registration guide says the tool will be offline from November 7, 2026, to January 5, 2027. Submitting beforehand does not guarantee immediate activation; confirm your review and first collection date.
Does every CBT seller receive the $0.50 discount?
No. The promotion has separate volume, destination and review conditions. The current first-time application threshold is 500 average daily packages over the preceding 15 days from November 1, 2026. Count only confirmed eligible parcels in your forecast.
